The Beginning of Our Lives || Calphia ||

Smiling to himself, Cal sat back, closed his eyes and reveled in the fact that everything was finally getting better. Before Olympus, he had no home, no family. Then he met his brother, Will. He finally had someone. He had a friend, a brother, somebody to care about other than himself. That was fine, for a while, but eventually he craved more. He met Sophia Tremblay. It was all random, too; It happened on a whim. Before her, he didn’t believe in love at first sight. Maybe that’s not what he experienced. Maybe he wasn’t instantly in love with this girl. But, he thought as he opened his eyes a tiny bit to peek out at her from behind his eyelids, he knew from the first time he laid eyes on her that this girl was special. She was different. She was Sophia, and he loved it.

*Ding ding ding* Went the intercom. “We are now taking off, please be sure your seat belts are fastened and your seats are set to the upright most position.”

“Well this is it.” Cal said, fully opening his eyes and looking at his girlfriend. “You ready to fly?” He laughed as he was sure her excitement would worsen once she felt the treachery that is the popping of the ears, but he was happy she had time to enjoy herself before the frustration took over. “Tell me when you want gum.” He said with a grin before resting his head and closing his eyes once more as the the massive airplane began to roll forward.

The sound of the intercom caught Sophia’s attention. She still couldn’t believe she was actually going to be flying in an airplane soon. Her eyes twinkled and lashes fluttered while she turned to face Cal. The excitement was oozing out of her every pore. “I can’t wait”she exclaimed, settling back into her seat moving her arms away from his neck. Looking out the window she mentally said goodbye to everyone and everything she had grown to accept as her home.

That was before Cal came along and showed her what it truly meant to love and be loved. Trying to remember how she had ever lived without his unconditional love, her memories only went back to painfully miserable ones. Sophia’s hand found his, clasping her fingers between his holding on a little tighter than she should have.

Sophia was wondering why Cal had offered her gum. Her gaze went straight back to the window. All she could see was the darkness sprinkled with lights every so often. It didn’t look like the place she knew at all. Her ears suddenly felt the pressure of the air against them. She wasn’t even sure if she’d be able to hear him now, it felt so strange. Turning to face him, her face was full confusion as she leaned closer towards him. “Cal!”she said, hoping he could hear her.

The Beginning of Our Lives || Calphia ||

calciferabraham:

Watching his girlfriend’s reaction to everything was priceless. It gave Calcifer so much joy he thought his heart might melt and his lips might stretch to the end of the Earth. She bounced down the isle until she reached their seats, 19F and 19 G, before promptly swinging into the window seat and beaming back at him in excitement. All the while Calcifer walked calmly behind her, smiling holes into her head as he stored their bags in the overhead cabin.

“I can’t believe you’ve never been in a plane before, Sophia.” He laughed, sitting down next to her. “The idea perplexes me to no end. Everyone’s flown before!” Staring into her lap, he noticed she still hadn’t put her seatbelt on, and the light was glowing vibrantly like a taunt, criticizing his safety decisions. “Sophia, you should put your seatbelt on. Safety first” he winked and reached over to do it for her. Looking up and out the window for a minute to take in the scene.

There it was again. That word. Beauty. Everything was so beautiful with Sophia beside him. As he gazed through the transparent glass he entered a world of lights. A world of colors, dancing along through the air like sprites playing in the wind. Of course his methodical and logical mind knew that all he saw were airplanes and that the lights only twinkled due to how tired he was, but he couldn’t help to want to pretend, just for once, that there was magic in the air. Innocent magic, that children believed in. A kind of magic that could never hurt a fly.

Sighing as he brought his head up and away from the window, he planted another kiss on Sophia’s head, partly for reassurance and partly out of thanks. A grateful feeling he held for the girl that made him want to believe in fairy tales; the girl that was his fairy tale. The girl that changed his life forever and was soon to change it again. He thought on to the upcoming days and smiled as he imagined giving her a part of himself for the first time. “I love you Sophia.” He sighed, as if he didn’t have enough breath to truly say the words. The world seemed to spin too fast for a moment as he tried his best to catch up before deciding to just let it go and enjoy what he had. Enjoy Sophia Tremblay.

“How would I ever have been on a plane before? I don’t have anywhere to go, anyone to see, and especially nobody to go with. Like my mom was really going to take me anywhere”she whispered the last few words so quietly, her eyes glazing over for a fleeting second. The flickering lights outside and blanket of shadows and darkness coating the grounds and sky yanked her attention away. She barely heard him talking about safety, still distracted by the idea of flying in such a huge aircraft. Cal’s warm hands smoothly moving across her waist was a comfort, the idea of going so far away from everything she knew was something she was still comprehending.

There was nowhere else in the world she would rather be, than by his side. It was her home, his arms were her safety blanket, his embrace a reminder that she was loved, and his lips her goodnight lullaby. Sophia wasn’t alone any more, her life didn’t entirely belong to just her either. They were a part of each others lives and she wouldn’t have it any other way. Smiling at the idea of spending time with just Cal, alone, for days made her a bit flushed as her cheeks slightly reddened. Cal didn’t tell her how long they were going to be there, where exactly they were going or even what they were going to be doing there. It was all just one big mysterious package she couldn’t wait to slowly unwrap.

Those three words slipped from his lips so easily, the ones she could never have enough of hearing from him. Her favourite words to hear from his lips, no matter what time of day or night. Regardless of what situation they were in, those three words always lifted her spirits, warmed her heart and reminded her of the most precious treasure in her life. How she ever got so lucky she’ll never know, it was a question she asked herself everyday and could never manage to come up with an answer. Turning to face him, she smiled at him before leaning close to his ear and repeating the words back to him “I love you” she pressed her lips softly against his cheek. Sophia wrapped her arms around his neck, comfortable with their position there she tilted her head to look outside the window again. She didn’t want to say anything, words seemed so irrelevant when she could feel how he felt.

The Beginning of Our Lives || Calphia ||

calciferabraham:

Beauty: Its a word, It’s an adjective, and it’s often misunderstood. Beauty was… Heck, Cal didn’t even have an answer. He could see beauty in himself and in others. He saw in the world around him and he saw it in his dreams. He kissed beauty good morning and he’d lay with her at night, but at the end of the day, how could he define the word? The closest he came was Sophia Tremblay, his life. Sophia is beauty to him. She defines it for him; she gives the word life. Sophia. Beauty. Sophia. Sophia.

“Sophia!” Cal said in hushed urgency. After the all the chaos of the lines and bustling about she passed out with her head on his lap when they reached the terminal. “Soph`!” He whispered, a little louder this time as he brushed her cheek  with his thumb. As her eyes fluttered open and she became aware of their surroundings he winked at her and said “Time to start yet another adventure.” Just then the loudspeakers sounded. *ding ding ding* “Last boarding call for flight 302 to Hawaii”

The pale moonlight flooding in through the glass walls of the terminal gave the place a stark interior made up of pure white and the blackest blue one can imagine. The only color in the room being Sophia’s golden hair made it dazzling to watch as it painted the world around it like a light emitting star. As they left their bench to board the plane Calcifer couldn’t help but become utterly fascinated with it, placing his hands on her shoulders in front of him and kissing her head gently. “I hope you’re not having second thoughts, because the time to turn back is five minutes ago.”

It was a dream, she knew that. She couldn’t help but enjoy the wicked dream and the way Calcifer kept screaming out her name. Disappointingly, the repeated sound she had gotten used to and grown fond of was slowly weakening. To the point where it now only sounded like a faint whisper. Squinting her eyes willing for everything to go back to the way it was, Sophia felt his hands caress her cheek lightly. This felt different from his sensual touch in her dreams, more real. Suddenly fluttering her lashes open, she groaned internally missing the dream. Determined to make her dream come true, Sophia  blinked the sleep away from her eyes and smiled up at him. It was time to board their flight.

Sophia laughed lightly, leaning her head back at an angle to smile back at him. “I only have one thought right now, and I’ll tell you all about it when we get there”she winked. His hands on her shoulders sent her the strong sensations, making her want to shove him against the wall and kiss him senseless. Every touch, the faint warmth of his breath against her skin, everything was just driving her crazy. She wondered how he had so much control, and how he coped with it so well. They boarded the plane and got settled into their seats, after fussing around a bit. Sophia sat by the window, gazing out with glee and excitement. Forgetting about her seatbelt in the process. “Cal! I can’t wait”she squealed, still staring outside”.
